The Gospel Above Reason

The Gospel Above Reason

Apostle Grace Lubega

2 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV), But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Every tree planted by God in the garden was pleasant to the eye and good for food (Genesis 2:9).

However, when the enemy corrupted Eve’s perception, he opened her eyes to a third characteristic with regard to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The Bible says that in addition to being “pleasant to the eyes” and “good for food,” it was also “desirable to make one wise.”(Genesis 3:6).

Subtility in our theme scripture is the Greek word “panourgia.” It is translated to also mean “false wisdom.”

When Eve saw that the tree was desirable to make one wise, what she actually beheld was this false wisdom and as such, she was beguiled.

How does false wisdom function?

It corrupts the mind from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Corruption of the mind begins when men limit truth to reason.

False wisdom is the power of reason; it seeks to dilute the truths in the gospel with what can be perceived as “reasonable.”

Paul in his teaching rejected this false wisdom when he declared, “my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5).

It is not “reasonable” that stage IV cancer can heal by faith; it is not “reasonable” that Jesus defied the force of gravity and walked on water(Matthew 14:22-23); it is not “reasonable” that a man can appear in another nation without taking a flight, Phillip did it(Acts 8:39-40); it is not “reasonable” that taxes can be paid out of the mouth of a fish(Matthew 17:25-27). But that is the gospel!

The gospel is not subject to reason. It is received and understood firstly with the spirit and not only with the mind.

GOLDEN NUGGET: 4
The gospel is not subject to reason. It is received and understood firstly with the spirit and not only with the mind.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for your Word. I walk in the manifestation of what you declared is mine simply because I believe. I do great things in the kingdom by faith because I receive revelation with my spirit and not just my mind. I have the full comprehension of divine and spiritual things. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
