Apostle Grace Lubega
Proverbs 4:20-22 (KJV); My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
In the recent past, there has been an emergence of what is called alternative medicine. This aims to achieve healing without testability or experimentation and evidence from clinical trials.
While commonly disparaged as being founded in superstition, what some people do not realise is that it is an epitomisation of Luke 16:8, that the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of the light.
A survey in the United States revealed that 36% of adults above 18 years use alternative medicine. In the United Kingdom, almost half the population use alternative medicine.
Many proponents of alternative medicine are men of the New Age Movement, rooted in Eastern Mysticism with strong teachings on spiritual consciousness and ‘enlightenment.’ The underlying aim of the treatment is to achieve balance in the flow of ‘vital energy’ by various means.
If the children of this world have an ‘alternative’ to scientific medicine, what is the church offering? What is our alternative?
God’s Word is the time-tested and time-honoured alternative. The Word of God is the secret to life and health. It does not only cure, it prevents.
The church is the pillar and ground of all truth (1 Timothy 3:15). In a world that is increasingly demystifying the complexities of the metaphysical world by a different light, we must teach His Word more than ever before as the true source of healing and divine health. We must believe it and demonstrate it!
