Apostle Grace Lubega
Philippians 2:5-8(KJV); Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
When Christ humbled Himself to death on the cross, He humbled Himself to the purpose that God had for His life.
In fact, in the Garden of Gethsemane, we witness a painful battle between the will of the flesh and divine purpose. Christ had faced the ridicule of the Pharisees and lived above it, He had endured the unbelief of men in his hometown and prevailed but in this critical moment of purpose, it occurred to Him to give up. He said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me.”
However, He bent to purpose and said, “Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”(Luke 22:42).
Kathryn Khulman, the great evangelist, when speaking of the price of the gospel and the call of God upon her life said, “It will cost you everything.”
Some people come to the gospel to amass wealth and material substance. They do not understand that the gospel is the arena in which we lose it all, spend and are ourselves spent(2 Corinthians 12:15).
It takes humility to understand the true price of ministry and even greater humility to be able to pay that price.
The gospel will cost you your friends and cost you your family. It will cost you money and will cost you strength. It will cost you your dignity and it will cost you your social status. Paul said in Phillipians 3:8, “I count ALL things but loss…” It was not some things, half of the things or some select areas of His life. It was ALL things!
If you truly must serve God and be used by Him, understand the price. The price is everything!
