Apostle Grace Lubega
Mark 12:41–44 (KJV): “And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.”

In the kingdom of God, giving is not measured only by how much is given, but how much we give of what we have.
In our theme scripture, Jesus was not criticizing the rich for giving large amounts. Rather, He was drawing attention to the spirit of sacrifice in giving. Some gave from their abundance, while the widow gave from what little she had. Her offering stood out to Jesus because it cost her more.
To understand this principle, consider two men.
One man has one billion shillings. When an opportunity arises to support God’s work, he gives Five Hundred Thousand Shillings. It is a good gift, yet it represents a small portion of what he possesses. Another man has one million shillings. From that amount, he gives two hundred thousand shillings. Though smaller in absolute terms, his gift represents a much greater portion of his resources. Both gifts have value, but the second reflects a deeper level of sacrifice.
The widow’s offering was not about giving away everything as a rule for all believers, but a lesson in sacrificial giving.
Indeed, God honours faithful, willing, and thoughtful giving—whether much or little—when it flows from love, gratitude, and trust in Him. However, we must always remember that in the kingdom of God, the value of a gift is found not in its size alone but in the sacrifice behind it. Hallelujah.

GOLDEN NUGGET: In the kingdom of God, the value of a gift is found not in its size alone, but in the sacrifice behind it.
PRAYER: Loving Father, thank You for this word. I receive it with humility and gratitude. I give with faith, sacrifice, and obedience. My giving reflects surrender, honor, and love for Your kingdom. By this knowledge, You enlarge my capacity to give and cause me to abound in every good work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
