Apostle Grace Lubega
Hebrews 12:1 (KJV); Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
As you grow, you must be conscious of the things that can slow a man down in the realm of the Spirit. Like you cannot ably run in the physical realm with a heavy bag strapped to your back, you cannot run at any notable speed with any unnecessary weight in the spiritual realm.
You may express yourself in liberties that slow you down. In fact, some weights may not appear as sins but they may hinder you from fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.
In 1 Corinthians 10:23, the Bible says, “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.”
For example, you may be entrusted with a role to serve as an administrator in a church.
By this parameter alone, you tick the right box, because you can be trusted with such a great responsibility, and you are available to serve God. However, it may not be the role God planned for you. Perhaps he designed you to be an usher.
Lawfully, you may be right but as far as expedience is concerned, you are not in the perfect will of God. Taking this route will prove to be a weight that may slow you in the path of your destiny.
Never forget that, not every opportunity that comes your way is for you to take. It has to be God-approved otherwise it may become a weight.
What are you carrying that has reduced your speed? Which relationships are weights? Which critical life choices have you made that are guaranteed to affect your spiritual speed?
I urge you to examine your life against this truth.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. Thank You for the wisdom that propels me faster along the paths of destiny. I shed every weight that is not from you and embrace the weight of the glory of Your Spirit. Your yoke is light and Your burden is easy. I indulge in only that which edifies, builds and moves me forward, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
