Acts 2:6-11 (KJV); Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
The miracle of Pentecost was not merely the experience of men speaking in tongues.
Our theme scripture reveals firstly that all the people gathered in the upper room were Galilieans. When the Spirit of God descended upon them, they spoke in other tongues.
This upper room experience was extremely extraordinary. When some people read this scripture, they assume that this was about several people speaking in different languages, that is, Peter speaking in Parthian dialect, James speaking in Medes or John speaking in the language of the Elamites. This is far from the experience. The language of the scriptures is this, “And how hear we EVERY MAN IN OUR OWN TONGUE, wherein we were born?”
What happened was that as each man spoke, the Parthians heard those words in their language, the Medes heard those same words in their language, the Elamites heard those exact words in their language, the Cretes heard the same words in their language, and the Romans and Arabians heard that one man speak in their own language.
Such is the power of the utterance given by the Holy Ghost!
When the Spirit of the Lord speaks through a man, the words of that man are capable of being translated into various languages to as many as should hear him. Language is not a barrier to the Spirit.

Ne bawuniikirira bonna, ne beewuunya, nga bagamba nti, “Laba, bano bonna aboogera si Bagaliraaya? Era kiki ffe buli muntu okuwulira olulimi lw’ewaffe gye twazaalibwa? Abapaazi n’Abameedi, n’Abeeramiti, n’abali mu Mesopotamiya, mu Buyudaaya ne Kapadokiya, mu Ponto ne mu Asiya, mu Fulugiya ne mu Panfuliya, mu Misiri ne mu nsi ez’e Libiya eziriraanye Kuleene, n’Abaruumi abagenyi, Abayudaaya n’abakyufu, Abakuleete n’Abawalabu, tuwulira bano nga boogera mu nnimi zaffe eby’ekitalo ebya Katonda.”

Ekyawandiikibwa kyaffe ekigguddewo okusookera ddala kitubikkulira nti abantu abaakuŋŋaanira mu kisenge ekya waggulu baali Bagaliraaya. Omwoyo wa Katonda bwe yabakkaako baayogera mu nnimi endala.
Ensisinkano y’ekisenge kya waggulu yali ya njawulo nnyo. Abantu abamu bwe basoma ekyawandiikibwa kino, bateebereza nti kyali ku bantu abangi abaayogera mu nnimi ez’enjawulo, gamba, Petero ng’ayogera mu lupaazi, Yakobo ng’ayogera mu Lumeedi oba Yokaana ng’ayogera mu lulimi lw’Abareemiti. Kino kiri wala okuva ku nsisinkano eno. Olulimi lw’ebyawandiikibwa lwe luno, “Era kiki ffe BULI MUNTU OKUWULIRA OLULIMI LW’EWAFFE gye twazaalibwa?”
Ekyatuukawo kyali nti nga buli muntu ayogera, Abapaazi baawulira ebigambo ebyo mu lulimi lwabwe, Abameedi baawulira ebigambo ebyo bye bimu mu lulimi lwabwe, Abeeramiti baawulira ebigambo byennyini mu lulimi lwabwe, Abakuleete baawulira ebigambo ebyo bye bimu mu lulimi lwabwe, n’Abaruumi n’Abawalabu baawulira omuntu oyo y’omu ng’ayogera mu lulimi lwabwe.
Ago ge maanyi g’okwatula okuweereddwa Omwoyo Omutukuvu!

Matendo 2:6-11 (KJV); Sauti hiyo iliposikika, umati wa watu ukakusanyika, ukafadhaika, kwa sababu kila mmoja aliwasikia wakisema kwa lugha yake mwenyewe. Wakashangaa wote, wakastaajabu, wakiambiana, Tazama, hawa wote wasemao si Wagalilaya? Basi, tunawezaje kumsikia kila mtu katika lugha yetu tuliyozaliwa nayo? Waparthi, na Wamedi, na Waelami, na wakaao Mesopotamia, na Uyahudi, na Kapadokia, na Ponto, na Asia, na Frugia, na Pamfilia, katika Misri, na pande za Libia karibu na Kurene, na wageni wa Rumi, Wayahudi na waongofu, Krete na Waarabu, tunawasikia wakisema kwa lugha zetu matendo ya ajabu ya Mungu.
Muujiza wa Pentekoste haukuwa tu tukio la watu kunena kwa lugha.
Andiko letu kuu linafunua kwanza kwamba watu wote waliokusanyika katika chumba cha juu walikuwa Wagalilaya. Roho wa Mungu aliposhuka juu yao, walinena kwa lugha nyingine.
Tukio hili la chumba cha juu lilikuwa la ajabu sana. Watu wengine wanaposoma andiko hili, hufikiri kwamba hii ilikuwa juu ya watu kadhaa wanaozungumza kwa lugha tofauti tofauti, yaani, Petro akizungumza katika lahaja ya Kiparthi, Yakobo akizungumza kwa lugha ya Wamedi au Yohana akiongea kwa lugha ya Waelami. Hii ni mbali na kilichotokea. Lugha ya maandiko ni hii, “Na jinsi gani twasikia KILA MTU KWA LUGHA YETU TULIOZALIWA NAYO?
Kilichotukia ni kwamba kila mtu alipokuwa akisema, Wapathi walisikia maneno yale katika lugha yao, Wamedi wakasikia maneno yale yale katika lugha yao, Waelami wakasikia maneno yale yale katika lugha yao, Wakrete wakasikia maneno yale yale katika lugha yao, na Warumi na Waarabu walisikia kwamba mtu mmoja anazungumza kwa lugha yao wenyewe.
Hiyo ndiyo nguvu ya usemi inayotolewa na Roho Mtakatifu!
Wakati Roho wa Bwana anapozungumza kupitia mwanadamu, maneno ya mtu huyo yanaweza kutafsiriwa katika lugha mbalimbali kwa wengi wanaopaswa kumsikia. Lugha sio kizuizi kwa Roho.
Mungu asifiwe!
