Apostle Grace Lubega
2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT): “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”
—
God commands His children to examine themselves and determine whether their faith is genuine.
Do you really believe? This is a question every Christian must ask himself.
If God has said in His Word that whatever you ask in faith, believing, you receive, why have you asked and still not received? If God has said in His Word that your path shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day, why does it seem as though your life is regressing year after year? If God has promised that you are the head and not the tail, why do you so often find yourself at the bottom of things that matter?
Do you really believe?
The importance of this question cannot be overstated, because there is such a thing as feigned faith, faith that deceives the self. It is possible to speak the language of faith, confess the right scriptures, and even appear confident before men, while deep within, the heart is still filled with doubt, fear, and uncertainty. Genuine faith is not merely in the mouth. It must take root in the heart.
This question is important because it forces a man to be honest before God. It turns him away from excuses and brings him into the place of truth. It helps him stop blaming his boss, his wife, his parents, or other people for why things are not working out. It keeps him from judging God foolishly when he does not see the manifestation of what he prayed for.

GOLDEN NUGGET: God commands His children to examine themselves and determine whether their faith is genuine. Do you really believe?
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. Thank You for the precious and exceedingly great promises in the Scriptures. They are Yes and Amen, and Your Word is true. Today, search my heart. Weigh my convictions against my confessions, and my confessions against my actions. Where I am found wanting, help me God. Let my faith be genuine, my heart steadfast, and my life aligned with all that I profess. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
