Mark 6:4-5 (KJV); But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
To receive from a minister of God, it is important to avoid familiarity.
This was the pitfall of the people in our theme scripture. To them, Jesus was the carpenter, son of Mary and brother to James, Joses, Juda and Simon.
Were they ailing and diseased? Of course, they were. Were they struggling with demonic oppression? Of course, they were. Did they need Godly intervention in their families? Of course, they did.
Their needs notwithstanding, familiarity stood between them and their much-needed miracles. They did themselves a great disservice when they assumed that Christ was an ordinary man and discredited the greatness of the heavenly Father that was at work in Him.
Did their indifference render Christ less anointed? No. It instead worked against them.
Familiarity not only breeds contempt, but it also breeds the kind of environment that distances you from the purpose of God for your life.
Today, familiarity has robbed many Christians of the answers they need to get to the next level of success and spiritual growth. They have abused the privilege of proximity. Some mistakenly assume that proximity is access.
In the life of ministry, proximity is not access. Proximity is merely an opportunity for access.
Wisdom requires you to celebrate proximity by honouring it as a means of deeper access. Never consider the minister of God as merely your brother, sister, colleague or countryman. Learn to honour God who is at work in him.

Marko 6: 4-5 (KJV); Yesu akawaambia, Nabii hakosi heshima, isipokuwa katika nchi yake mwenyewe, na kwa jamaa zake, na nyumbani mwake. Wala hakuweza kufanya mwujiza wo wote huko, isipokuwa aliweka mikono yake juu ya wagonjwa wachache, akawaponya.
Ili kupokea kutoka kwa mtumishi wa Mungu, ni muhimu kuepuka mazoea.
Hii ilikuwa ndiyo shida ya watu katika andiko letu kuu. Kwao, Yesu alikuwa seremala, mwana wa Mariamu na kaka wa Yakobo, Yose, Yuda na Simoni.
Je! Walikuwa wagonjwa na wenye magonjwa? Kwa kweli, walikuwa nayo. Je! Walikuwa wakipambana na ukandamizaji wa mapepo? Kwa kweli, walikuwa [wakipambana]. Je! Walihitaji msaada wa Mungu katika familia zao? Kwa kweli, walihitaji hivyo.
Licha ya mahitaji yao yote, mazoea ilisimama kati yao na miujiza waliyoihitaji sana. Walijifanyia vibaya sana wakati walidhani kwamba Kristo alikuwa mtu wa kawaida na wakadharau ukuu wa Baba wa mbinguni ambaye alikuwa akifanya kazi ndani Yake.
Je! Kutojali kwao kulifanya upako wa Kristo mdogo? Hapana. Badala yake, kulifanya kazi dhidi yao.
Mazoea haileti tu dharau, mazoea pia huzaa aina ya mazingira ambayo hukutenga mbali na kusudi la Mungu kwa maisha yako.
Leo, mazoea yamewanyima Wakristo wengi majibu wanayohitaji ili kufikia kiwango kingine cha mafanikio na ukuaji wa kiroho. Wametumia vibaya fursa ya ukaribu. Wengine kimakosa hudhani kuwa ukaribu ni ufikiaji.
Katika maisha ya huduma, ukaribu sio ufikiaji. Ukaribu ni fursa tu ya ufikiaji.
Hekima inakuhitaji kusherehekea ukaribu kwa kuuheshimu kama njia ya ufikiaji wa kina. Kamwe usimwone mtumishi wa Mungu kama kaka yako tu, dada yako, mwenzako au mtu wa nchi yako tu. Jifunze kumheshimu Mungu ambaye anafanya kazi ndani yake.

UJUMBE MKUU: Katika maisha ya huduma, ukaribu sio ufikiaji. Ukaribu ni fursa tu ya ufikiaji.
SALA: Bwana wangu, Nakushukuru kwa ukweli huu. Ninaupokea kwa unyenyekevu wa kina na ninau-uruhusu ufanye kazi katika roho yangu. Ninaheshimu upako kwa sababu najua unachoweza kufanya na kutimiza maishani mwangu.
