Genesis 27:21-23 (KJV); And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau. And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.
The Lord is a God of patterns. These patterns reveal His mind and His purposes.
One such pattern is in our theme scripture and it is the pattern of the patriarchal blessing.
Even though it was God’s desire for Jacob to carry the blessing of the firstborn son because He had told Rebecca that the elder shall serve the younger (Genesis 25:23), He did not achieve this by blessing Jacob Himself and pronouncing Esau’s blessing on him. He honoured the fact that this blessing had to come by the hand of Isaac.
As shown by our theme scripture, Jacob could only receive that blessing by pretending to be Esau because that is the order that his father Isaac respected and understood.
Jacob too defined the inheritance of his sons by this pattern. In Genesis 49:2, he tells them, “Gather yourselves together you sons of Jacob and hearken to Israel your father.”
The lesson herein is that we too must respect the fact that certain graces can only work in our lives by the pattern of the patriarchal blessing: either from a spiritual authority or your biological father.
It is a lesson that reminds us of the need to respect those spiritual and physical father figures that God has placed in our lives because He defines our futures by their hands.
It does not matter how bad the man may be, as long as He is yours by God, do your part to honour him, God will do the rest.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. I receive it in humility to honour those that You have placed before me. I walk in submission to spiritual authority because I understand the patterns of the Spirit. By this wisdom, I am established in Your purposes for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

RUHANGA W’EBIRIKUREEBERWAHO – OMUGISHA GWA BAATATENKURIITWE

Yakobo yairira haihi Isaaka ishe; Isaaka yaamukoraho, yaagira ati: Eiraka n’erya Yakobo, kwonka emikono n’eya Esau. Tiyaamumanya, ahabw’okuba engaro ze zikaba ziine ebyoya, nk’eza mukuru we Esau; yaiha aho, yaamushabira omugisha.
Mukama waitu ni Ruhanga w’ebirikureeberwaho. Ebirikureeberwaho ebi nibyoreka enteekateeka ye n’ebigyendererwa bye.

MUNGU WA MIFUMO – BARAKA YA WAZEE

Mwanzo 27:21-23 (KJV); Isaka akamwambia Yakobo, Karibu, tafadhali, ili nikupapase, mwanangu, nione kwamba wewe ndiwe mwanangu Esau, ama siyo.Basi Yakobo akamkaribia Isaka, babaye, naye akampapasa, akasema, Sauti ni sauti ya Yakobo, lakini mikono ni mikono ya Esau. Wala hakumtambua, kwa maana mikono yake ilikuwa kama mikono ya Esau, ndugu yake, yenye malaika; basi akambariki.
Bwana ni Mungu wa mifumo. Kupitia mifumo hii akili yake na makusudi yake yanafunuliwa kwetu.
Mfumo mmoja kama huo uko katika andiko letu kuu na ni mfumo wa baraka ya wazee wa familia.
Ingawa ilikuwa hamu ya Mungu kwa Yakobo kubeba baraka ya mtoto wa kwanza wa kiume kwa sababu alikuwa amemwambia Rebecca kwamba mkubwa atamtumikia mdogo (Mwanzo 25:23), hakufanikisha hili kwa kumbariki Yakobo Yeye Mwenyewe na kutamka baraka ya Esau juu yake. Aliuheshimu ukweli kwamba baraka hii ilibidi ije kwa mkono wa Isaka.
Kama inavyoonyeshwa na andiko letu kuu, Yakobo angeweza tu kupokea baraka hiyo kwa kujifanya kuwa Esau kwa sababu hiyo ndiyo taratibu ambayo baba yake Isaka aliheshimu na kuelewa.
Yakobo pia alifafanua urithi wa wanawe kwa mfumo huu. Katika Mwanzo 49:2, anawaambia, “Kusanyikeni, msikie, enyi wana wa Yakobo, Msikilizeni Israeli, baba yenu.”
Somo hapa ni kwamba sisi pia lazima tuuheshimu ukweli kwamba neema zingine zinaweza tu kufanya kazi katika maisha yetu kwa mfumo huo wa baraka ya wazee: iwe ni kutoka kwa mamlaka ya kiroho au baba yako mzazi.
Ni somo ambalo linatukumbusha juu ya hitaji la kuheshimu wale baba wa kiroho na wa kimwili ambao Mungu ameweka katika maisha yetu kwa sababu anafafanua maisha yetu yajayo kwa mikono yao.
Haijalishi mtu huyo anaweza kuwa mbaya kiasi gani, maadamu Yeye ni wako uliyepewa na Mungu, fanya sehemu yako ya kumheshimu, Mungu atafanya mengine.
