Apostle Grace Lubega
Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV): “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

In many cultures, parenting is seen mostly as giving orders, setting rules, and correcting bad behavior to keep children “in line.” Parents often rely on constant warnings, lectures, and punishment to control how their children act. But true biblical parenting is much more than just managing behavior; it is about creating a healthy environment where godliness and wisdom grow naturally.
Most Middle Eastern and traditional Jewish parenting styles work differently. Their approach focuses heavily on the environment. Instead of just giving direct commands or reacting to mistakes, they shape a strong home culture that naturally produces disciplined, wise, and God-fearing children. The child is not just told how to behave; they grow up surrounded by a lifestyle of honor, prayer, excellence, and faith from a young age.
This is the deeper meaning of our theme scripture. To “train up” a child means to build an atmosphere that helps them fulfill their God-given destiny. When you create a home filled with God’s presence, prayer, encouraging words, and good examples, doing the right thing stops being a forced chore and becomes a natural habit. If you only give rules without building the right environment, you will always struggle against the bad influences outside. Shape the climate of your home, establish a godly culture, and watch your children grow into the leaders God made them to be.

PRAYER: Loving Father, thank You for the gift of family. Thank You for teaching me how to build the right atmosphere in my home. I choose to create an environment filled with Your Word, Your peace, and Your love; a place where my family can grow in wisdom, strength, and honor. I declare that my home is a place where righteous leaders and champions of faith are raised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
