Apostle Grace Lubega
1 Corinthians 14:7-8(KJV): “And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?”
—
God has called every believer to distinction. It is not enough to be an apostle—what is flowing from you as an apostle? It is not enough to be a prophet—what sets you apart as a prophet? There are many pastors, but what is unique about you as a pastor?
The importance of distinction is explained in our theme scripture.
The Bible says, “If the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?” An uncertain sound is often the result of a lack of distinction.
If you are an apostle without distinction, there may be aspects of your ministry that fail to transmit the precise instruction heaven intends for the hearts of your hearers.
If you are a prophet without distinction, your prophecies may fail to align people with the highest demands and purposes of God.
Uncertain sounds leave believers unprepared for battle. Simply put, they do not equip Christians to live victoriously in Christ. A person may receive a prophecy about relocating to another nation next month, but if the sound is uncertain, that word may not prepare her to confront the adversity she encounters there.
An apostle may passionately speak about elevation and promotion, but if the sound lacks clarity and distinction, it will not equip believers to withstand the storms that often accompany ministry.
Certainty of sound is essential because it is the means by which believers are perfected and equipped for the work of ministry.
So, the question remains: Minister, what is your distinction?

GOLDEN NUGGET: An uncertain sound is often the result of a lack of distinction. Certainty of sound is essential because it is the means by which believers are perfected and equipped for the work of ministry.
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this word. Thank You for calling me to a greater purpose and mandate. You have set me apart for Your work. I refuse to be ordinary. In my calling and profession, You have marked me with distinction—for Your name and for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
