Apostle Grace Lubega
John 8:31-32 (KJV); Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Truth is the foundation of hearing God. You cannot truly hear Him if you do not know the truth.
I have known Christians who assume they heard God but on a close examination of what they claim to have heard, you realise that it was not God speaking but a familiar evil spirit that they assumed was Him.
For example, some people were convinced that God told them a certain person was their spouse even when that person is already married to someone else. These individuals even went so far as seeking to break up marriages in the name of having heard God.
But what does the truth say about this? The Word of God has eyes and you should be able to see your situation through these very eyes. In Malachi 2:16, the Lord says that He hates divorce. How can you claim that you heard the Lord tell you to break up a marriage because the married person is your supposed husband or wife?
Truth is the voice of God in its purest form. The Spirit and the Word will always agree.
Whenever you hear what you believe to be the voice of God, it must be in line with His Word of Truth.
