Apostle Grace Lubega
1 Corinthians 16:15 (KJV); I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)
In this world, there are people struggling with all manner of addiction. They are addicted to alcohol, drugs, social media, gambling and many other destructive things.
Most have no control over themselves when in the grip of these addictions.
In the body of Christ, we also have our own form of addiction.
Our theme scripture points us to such by giving an example of the house of Stephanas who were addicted to the ministry of the saints.
As children of God, we are ‘high’ on what God is doing in and through us.
The behaviour of men who are addicted to the ministry is obvious. They spend and are spent for the sake of the gospel (2 Corinthians 12:15). They are out of their minds for God’s sake (2 Corinthians 5:13).
Their dedication is judged by many as extreme. Their unwavering devotion under all circumstances is frowned upon by some.
No, they are not fanatics, they are simply addicted to the ministry of the saints.
