The Phaneroo Devotion: Purpose, Not Competition

In the quest for purpose, it is important to understand why you do the things that you do. This is because these reasons affect how effectively you function in the places where God has positioned you.
What does this mean?
Some people pursue certain things in the gospel, not because God has instructed them, but because they are competing with another man, like our theme scripture reveals. A Christian may spend days on a prayer mountain out of a spirit of competition because he envies what another man carries.
While it is a good thing to admire graces and seek to receive them, you must audit your motives. Are your actions a result of a desire for deeper intimacy with God or competition?
Honour those ahead of you, learn from them, and receive from the graces God has placed in your life, but never let envy become the reason for your pursuit.
God has not called you to become a cheap copy of a great original. He has called you to find yourself in Him and to walk faithfully in the purpose He designed for you.

LE BUT, ET NON LA COMPÉTITION

Dans la quête du but divin, il est important de comprendre pourquoi tu fais ce que tu fais. Car ces motivations influencent l’efficacité avec laquelle tu fonctionnes dans les endroits où Dieu t’a placé.
Qu’est-ce que cela signifie ?
Certaines personnes poursuivent certaines choses dans l’Évangile, non parce que Dieu les y a appelées, mais parce qu’elles sont en compétition avec quelqu’un d’autre, comme le révèle notre verset principal. Un chrétien peut passer des jours sur une montagne de prière, animé par un esprit de compétition, simplement parce qu’il envie ce qu’un autre porte.
Bien qu’il soit bon d’admirer certaines grâces et de désirer les recevoir, tu dois examiner tes motivations. Tes actions proviennent-elles d’un désir sincère d’une plus grande intimité avec Dieu ou d’un esprit de compétition ?
Honore ceux qui sont en avance sur toi, apprends d’eux et reçois des grâces que Dieu a placées dans ta vie, mais ne laisse jamais l’envie devenir la raison de ta poursuite.
Dieu ne t’a pas appelé à devenir une copie bon marché d’un grand original. Il t’a appelé à te découvrir en Lui et à marcher fidèlement dans le dessein qu’Il a préparé pour toi.

In de zoektocht naar een doel is het belangrijk te begrijpen waarom je de dingen doet die je doet. Deze redenen beïnvloeden namelijk hoe effectief je functioneert op de plaatsen waar God je heeft geplaatst.
Wat betekent dit?
Sommige mensen streven bepaalde dingen na in het evangelie, niet omdat God hen daartoe heeft opgedragen, maar omdat ze met een ander concurreren, zoals onze thematekst laat zien. Een christen kan dagen doorbrengen op een gebedsberg uit een geest van competitie, omdat hij jaloers is op wat een ander heeft.
Hoewel het goed is om genade te bewonderen en ernaar te streven die te ontvangen, moet je je motieven onderzoeken. Zijn je daden het gevolg van een verlangen naar een diepere intimiteit met God of van competitie?
Eer degenen die je voorgaan, leer van hen en ontvang de genade die God in je leven heeft gelegd, maar laat jaloezie nooit de reden worden voor je streven.
God heeft je niet geroepen om een goedkope kopie te worden van een groot origineel. Hij heeft je geroepen om jezelf in Hem te vinden en trouw te wandelen in het doel dat Hij voor je heeft bestemd.
