Apostle Grace Lubega
Genesis 30:27 (KJV); And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.
God prepares His children for greatness through a process. One of the aspects of this process is service to Him by service to men.
Jacob and Laban’s story teaches us one fundamental truth about how greatness serves.
The principle therein is that a great man serves even those that he is able to add to and bless.
In our theme scripture, Laban admits to Jacob, “I have learned by experience that the Lord has blessed me for thy sake.” Even if Laban was blessed because of Jacob, Jacob served him anyway.
A weaker person would have used this as an opportunity to self-promote. In the church today, gifted ministers use their giftedness as an excuse to behave like lords in other people’s ministries.
It does not matter how anointed you are or how much you know about God. As long as the Lord has placed you under the authority of another person, serve them in humility. That is a mark of a great man.
