Apostle Grace Lubega
John 21:18 (KJV); Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
In Romans 8:14, the Bible says that those that are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. The Greek word for sons in this scripture is ‘huios’ which is translated to mean a mature son. It is the mature ones that are led by the Spirit of God. When one is still a child, he goes everywhere he wills. When he grows up, another carries him.
In my journey of spiritual growth, I have learnt what it means to be carried by God in places I did not want to go.
We were not simply anointed on mountains as we prayed so hard. We were anointed and elevated by God because of the places He led us; places we would rather not have gone but went because we knew that God was maturing us.
When we scrubbed toilets in service to God because we honuoured the humblest beginnings in the Church of God, that was the Spirit leading us in places we did not want to go. When we slashed compounds and washed clothes for old women because that was the only opportunity we had to preach Christ to them, that was the Spirit leading us in places we did not wish to go. We were led to places without glamour and without cameras, where we broke and were broken in our service to God. We did not wish to go there but these very places qualified us as huious.
As you mature in God, you cannot afford to be picky in where you follow as He leads. You lose your sense of personal convenience and trade it for His urgency. That is how we grow! Hallelujah!

PRAYER: Father, I thank You for this knowledge. Thank You for the precious gift of Your Spirit, my guide and light. I am humble enough to follow wherever He leads. I am sensitive to His convictions and never reject them for my comfort. By this wisdom, I grow in You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
