The Comfort Of The Scriptures

Apostle Grace Lubega

Nehemiah 1:1(KJV); The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah.

God comforts us through knowledge and revelation.

Sometimes, we expect the comfort of God to come to us physically like a mother would wrap her hands around a child. He does that too but He does so through knowledge.

From our theme scripture, the Hebrew name Nehemiah is translated to mean “Jehovah comforts” while the Hebrew name Hachaliah means “whom Jehovah enlightens.”

God is teaching us something from this pattern of identity and of naming; that He comforts us by His enlightenment.

Paul in Romans 15:4 speaks of the comfort of the scriptures that give us hope. In 2 Corinthians 1:3-5; He speaks of how the Lord comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble with the very comfort we received from God.

When He said “He is your strength”, that is comfort.

When He said “He is the lifter of your head”, that is comfort.

When He said “He is your righteousness, justification, wisdom, peace, the beginning and the end”, that is comfort!

You don’t need people to always tell you that it is going to be okay, that it is well with you. Often times, you may find yourself alone without a shoulder to lean on.

Simply embrace the Word of God.

Glory to God!

GOLDEN NUGGET:
God comforts us through knowledge and revelation.

PRAYER: My Lord, I thank you for the scriptures. In them, I find peace, joy, understanding and hope. I look to your Word regardless of the circumstances of my life because they are the reality I behold. Like you were faithful to Abraham, you are faithful to me. Like you stood beside Moses as he stood before the Red sea, Lord you stand with me. Like you stood by David before Goliath, you stand by and in me. In all things, I choose to draw my strength from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
