Shedding Spiritual Weights

1 Corinthians 10:23 (AMP); All things are legitimate [permissible — and we are free to do anything we please], but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].

In the spiritual realm, there are things that are permissible but they are not necessarily beneficial.

That is why Paul differentiates between the permissible and the beneficial.

Christians who have not understood this carry a lot of unnecessary weight in the spiritual realm.

The Bible says that this kind of weight easily besets (Hebrews 12:1).

The Greek word used for beset is “euperistatos” which is also translated to mean “thwarting a racer in every direction.”

These weights can frustrate a man in his course. They are sometimes carried under the deception that they are a part of one’s divine mandate, yet in truth, these things only make the Christian laggard.

Take as an example the vanities of ministry which shape the aspirations of some ministers of the gospel.

They include ambitions like having the biggest cathedral in the nation, running institutions like schools and universities or having a television ministry.

These in themselves are very good because they reflect the blessing of God upon one’s life.

However, when the pursuit of them is weighed against an individual’s understanding of divine purpose, they are sometimes exposed as vanities.

When pursued as a minister’s ultimate goal, they become unnecessary weight and as such, may easily divert a man from his course.

In the spiritual realm, there are things that are permissible but they are not necessarily beneficial. Christians who have not understood this carry a lot of unnecessary weight in the spiritual realm.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for defining my aspirations beyond the things that are temporal to the testimony of things that echo through eternity. My eyes are set on the high calling which is in Christ, on the demands of eternal purpose, on the direction of your mind for the Church and on the things that define the axis of eternal life. What Is Your Course?

What Is Your Course?

2 Peter 1:10(KJV); Therefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Every child of God must ask themselves this pertinent question: “what is my course?”

There are prophets, apostles, pastors, evangelists and teachers who even though they claim these callings, are not sure what they mean.

Some do not know their part and lot in the gospel.

When you understand your course, you will learn to number your days on the earth (Psalms 90:12) and never waste time in the things that do not profit the kingdom.

This life of the gospel is not a “que sera sera, (whatever will be, will be)” affair. You must understand the race set before you and the path you must take to that finish line.

The one distinctive thing about a man who has understood his course is that he has a burden for the gospel.

When you have a burden for the gospel, you cannot be indifferent to the labours in the kingdom because every labour comes with a burden and every burden comes with a message.

If a man is not communicating from that sense of responsibility, that man cannot transform a generation; he can touch lives but not change them.

GOLDEN NUGGET:
The one distinctive thing about a man who has understood his course is that he has a burden for the gospel. When you have a burden for the gospel, you cannot be indifferent to the labours in the kingdom because every labour comes with a burden and every burden comes with a message.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for your Word. I understand my course, I know my race and I run it with faith, grace and wisdom. Thank you for the milestones that you have drawn along the course of my destiny. I cannot miss them because you have taught me how to identify them. In this understanding, I will never veer off my eternal path. Surely, I will finish well. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Understanding The Five Fold Ministry: 5.the Evangelist

Ephesians 4:11-12(KJV); And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Evangelism is primarily about winning souls and is the one part of the fivefold that must be strongly established in any ministry that seeks to grow.

One of the distinctive marks of the ministry of evangelism is that it centres on the person of Jesus Christ and none other.

The spirit of an evangelist communicates the saving power of Jesus Christ and His grace.

This means that evangelists are grace preachers because this is what makes the gospel good news: that men are not condemned but forgiven; that God’s love draws them as they are to repentance.

As an evangelist, you ought to understand that no sinner should ever come to the throne feeling ashamed but forgiven. Praise Him!

The spirit of an evangelist communicates the saving power of Jesus Christ and His grace. Evangelists are grace preachers because this is what makes the gospel good news: that men are not condemned but forgiven; that God’s love draws them as they are to repentance.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for this knowledge. I carry the understanding of the divine mandate to win souls. This wisdom is anchored in grace and by it, multitudes come to the kingdom. I am a true labourer because I see the readiness of the harvest and my heart is given to seeing many drawn to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Understanding The Five Fold Ministry: 4. The Pastoral Office

Ephesians 4:11-12(KJV); And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

The Greek Word for Pastor as used in our theme scripture is “poimen” which is translated to mean a shepherd: he to whose care and control others have committed themselves and whose precepts they follow.

The distinctive mark of a Pastor therefore is the shepherd’s heart.

What is the mark of the Shepherd’s heart?

John 10:11 says; I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

A pastor ought to give his life for those that he pastors; he must live sacrificially for the sake of those to whom he ministers.

However, the scripture stresses giving one’s life for not to . When it comes to whom the shepherd gives their life to it’s God.

The Pastoral office is ministry for men because one has given their life firstly to God.

Understanding The Five Fold Ministry: 3. The Teacher

Psalms 94:12(KJV); Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law

Before anyone can claim to be a teacher of the Word, they ought to have been taught by God.

God seeks to chastise (discipline) your spirit before you can teach.

This is because there are weightier judgments that pursue the office of these offices (James 3:1-2).

A teacher who is not chastened or trained by God may function in the gift of teaching yet be wanting in the ability to function under the unction of the Spirit.

Teaching under unction means that you do not teach only out of books you have read or what you studied in Bible school (which things are good in themselves) but from the constant instruction of God.

When a teacher teaches from the instruction of God, his message will always be tuned to divine purpose and the mind of God in that particular time.

There’s a consecration that comes with that; it breaks every obstacle that denies the Christian access to certain realms in God and takes you to the true experience of the liberties of access; these liberties come with revelation and that revelation always comes with the power to redeem. Hallelujah!

The essence of the prophetic ministry is to give direction both to individuals and to the body of Christ.

However, in the New Testament dispensation, it is the direction of confirmation and not affirmation, because the affirmations are of the Spirit.

What this means is that in this age, a prophet only confirms what is already affirmed or established as truth in the spirit.

It is a good thing to prophecy about the things that you see in the lives of individuals; be it marriage, promotions or any other issues concerning them.

However, a prophet ought to understand that divine mandate is deeper than any issue in a man’s life because our lives are subject to divine purpose.

That is why even after you have seen by the Spirit that so and so will get married or a certain event will soon come to pass in their lives, the question is, “have you aligned them to divine purpose?
Have you defined the call of God upon their lives?”

Look at the example of the prophets that commissioned Paul and Barnabas.

The Bible calls them “prophet teachers.”(Acts 13:1 MSG). This grace qualified them to separate these two apostles for the work God had called them (Acts 13:2-3).

They are different from prophets like Agabus who when he meets Paul speaks of him being bound and imprisoned if he went to Jerusalem (Acts 21:10-12).

The prophets at Antioch saw divine purpose while Agabus saw “chains and imprisonment” because he did not carry the burden of divine purpose: he did not understand what it means for a man to lose his life for the redemption of a generation.

He did not realise that the man to whom he spoke was ready to be cursed for the sake of his brethren the Jews(Romans 9:3); counted all things but loss for the sake of the gospel (Philippians 3:8); calls persecution light afflictions (2 Corinthians 4:17) and when in jail rejoices that the gospel is not in chains (2 Timothy 2:9).

Divine purpose is what gives you life after this life. You are alive to serve the call of God upon your life and prophecy primarily ought to align you to this. Hallelujah!

C’est pourquoi même après avoir vu par l’Esprit que tel ou tel se mariera ou qu’un certain événement se produira bientôt dans leur vie, la question est : « les avez-vous alignés sur le dessein divin ?
Avez-vous défini l’appel de Dieu sur leur vie ? “

Regardez l’exemple des prophètes qui ont commandé Paul et Barnabas.

La Bible les appelle « les enseignants prophètes » (Actes 13:1 MSG). Cette grâce les a qualifiés pour séparer ces deux apôtres de l’œuvre que Dieu les avait appelés (Actes 13:2-3).

Ils sont différents des prophètes comme Agabus qui quand il rencontre Paul, parle de lui lié et emprisonné s’il allait à Jérusalem (Actes 21:10-12).

Il n’a pas réalisé que l’homme à qui il a parlé était prêt à être maudit pour ses frères les Juifs (Romains 9:3) ; a compté toutes choses sauf la perte pour l’amour de l’Évangile (Philippiens 3:8) ; appelle la persécution les afflictions légères (2 Corinthiens 4:17) et en prison se réjouit que l’Évangile ne soit pas enchaîné (2 Timothée 2:9).

Le but divin est ce qui vous donne la vie après cette vie. Vous êtes vivant pour servir l’appel de Dieu sur votre vie et la prophétie devrait principalement vous aligner à cela. Alléluia !

Who is an apostle? Claiming the title “apostle” does not make you an apostle. Being called an “apostle” by those around you or even sometimes by men of God does not make you an apostle.

Your spirit must bear witness to whatever is spoken over your life lest you carry a burden that is not yours or attempt to run a race you were not appointed to.

The Greek Word used for apostle in our theme scripture is “apostolos” which is translated to mean “messenger.”

Every apostle must have a distinctive message.

God sends apostles with a particular message for three purposes: REVIVAL, ESTABLISHMENT or REFORMATION. They function in any of these three pillars.

If they are not REVIVING a certain truth, they are ESTABLISHING it; if they are not establishing a truth, they are REFORMING it.

Truth is REVIVED where it was dead and God seeks to bring it to life in the spirits of men in a particular generation; it is ESTABLISHED where it is existent though not strongly cemented in the hearts of men; and it is REFORMED where it has been misunderstood or misrepresented.

The apostolic mantle is defined by a message not just a sermon. Out of that message, sermons come. If you are an apostle, the first question you should ask yourself and God is, “what is my message?”

This pertinent question will define the course of your ministry.

The apostolic mantle comes with a defined message, and not just a sermon. Out of that message, sermons will come.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for the fivefold ministry by which saints are edified and perfected. I thank you because I have a full understanding of your call upon my life; I thank you because my message to this generation is distinctive, that when men hear me speak, they know the difference between my sound and that of others. Even as I walk this course, I contribute to the growth of the kingdom in the true mind of divine purpose. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Winds of the Spirit: The South Wind

Psalms 78:26 (KJV); He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

Yesterday we looked at the EAST WIND and how it functions. Today, we will explore the South wind.

Whereas, the East wind represents the judgments of God, the South wind represents the move of the Spirit, which is revival.

How does one position himself to function in the South wind?

Luke 12:55-56 teaches us how. The Christ told the Pharisees, “And when ye see the SOUTH WIND blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?”

You must know how to discern the signs of the times.

Understanding the signs of the times is the wisdom by which we draw spiritual significance from events in both the earthly realm and the spiritual realm.

People who cannot read the signs of the times cannot fully interprete the move of the Spirit in any given dispensation.

Because they do not, some fight the Spirit of revival. Others are indifferent to it, that in the time when God is moving mightily in a generation, they seem “asleep in the days of divine visitation.”

In this day, God is up to something extremely big. The signs are clear: God is teaching the least expected people things that no one has ever heard of; He is pouring out His Spirit in a measure that has never been felt before; Hunger for Him is increasing in the hearts of many.

May you understand these signs for what they are that you will know your part in this season and time.

GOLDEN NUGGET:

East winds represent the judgments of God, while the south winds represent the move of the spirit (revival).

PRAYER: Father, I am grateful for this Word. I understand the blowing of the South wind and position myself even as the Spirit moves mightily in my generation. I know the signs and recognise what you are doing in these times. This causes me to pray, serve, worship and seek you more than ever before. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Winds of the Spirit: The East Wind

Genesis 41:22-27 (KJV), And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good: And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the EAST WIND, sprung up after them… And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do. The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one. And the seven thin and ill-favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the EAST WIND shall be seven years of famine.

As a child of God, you ought to understand the winds of the Spirit: what they are, how they blow and why they blow. When you do, you will ably position yourself in line with divine purpose.

Our theme scripture draws our attention to the East Wind. The context of the scripture shows that the blast of this wind brought with it famine, represented by the “seven ears [of corn] withered thin…”

Several other examples in scripture explain the working of the East wind.

Exodus 10:13; “And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an EAST WIND upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the EAST WIND brought the locusts.”

In Jonah 4:8, it says, “And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement EAST WIND; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, it is better for me to die than to live.”

The East wind carries the judgments of God.

How then do you position yourself in this wind?

Job 38:24 (KJV) shows us how. It says, “By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the EAST WIND upon the earth?”

Light represents illumination/ knowledge. This scripture means that by knowledge, judgment is executed on the earth.

The judgments of the Spirit work in favour of the man who knows God in a distinctive manner.

This particular knowledge of God comes with the grace, the Greek word called “epilusis”.

“Epilusis” positions you to not only interpret these judgments, but also know what ought to be done.

In this instance, by “epilusis” Joseph understood the judgment of famine and also knew the course of action to be taken and he advised the king accordingly (Genesis 41:33-38).

When a man of knowledge meets the East Wind, he not only sees judgment but he also knows what he ought to do in that time and season.

GOLDEN NUGGET:

East winds are the judgments of God. When a man of knowledge meets the East Wind, he not only sees judgment but he also knows what he ought to do in that time and season.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for this Word. I understand the winds of the Spirit and position myself to function in accordance to how they blow. Even as the East wind blows, there is a shaking in my favour. All things work for my good because you judge matters in my favour. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When You Slay Bears And Lions

1 Samuel 17:34-36 (KJV), And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

Honour comes entirely from God. Regardless of how many “bears and lions you slay”, it is wisdom to wait for the hand of the Lord to reveal the glory upon your life to men.

This wisdom was at work in the life of David. In his service as a shepherd boy to his father Jesse, he had killed both lions and bears with his bare hands.

He was the least in his father’s household. But there is no record in the scriptures that he used these secret successes to prove himself and his place in his father’s household.

There are ministers that have failed in this journey of the gospel because when they “slew bears and lions” (when they made a lame man walk, healed a chronic disease or opened a blind eye), that was reason enough to break off from the ministries to which they submit and start their own churches.

Performing a miracle does not qualify you to start a ministry.

As a child of God, never seek honour simply because you have demonstrated the supernatural power of God. Wait on God, and He will raise you up. When He does, nothing in this world can bring you down.

GOLDEN NUGGET:

Honour comes entirely from God. Regardless of how many “bears and lions you slay”, it is wisdom to wait for the hand of the Lord to reveal the glory upon your life to men.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for your Word. Thank you for the great things that you are working in my life. These very things humble me and cause me to break before you. Your hand is upon me and by you, I stand before men in glory, honour and power. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

How We Grow

2 Corinthians 12:15 (KJV), And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

While growing up in the things of the Spirit, I met people who had to be pleaded with to serve in Church.

They were begged to play the piano because they were the best players available or to lead worship because they had such wonderful voices.

But these individuals were only gifted; they were not mature in the things of God.

A mature man can never be told to serve; he serves because he understands the demands of the gospel.

He knows that service to God is the greatest privilege on the surface of the earth.

He leads worship with this understanding; he teaches and wins souls with this mindset.

In the body of Christ, maturity should never be substituted by a gift no matter how great that gift.

Moreover, no one is irreplaceable. God can give the same gift you have to another and raise them to serve in your stead.

Choose to serve God out of love and not compulsion.

Identify needs in the gospel and be prompt to meet them. This attitude will grow you much faster in the things of God. Hallelujah!

1 Corinthians 9:18 (KJV), What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

It has become a culture in the body of Christ that some men cannot preach until they have been given a certain sum of money; they cannot worship or play the instruments in a service unless they are paid for it.

It also happens in some places that people are manipulated to give and this practice has eaten up the consciences of some ministers of the gospel.

All these are what the Apostle Paul in our theme scripture calls “putting a charge on the gospel.”

The gospel is priceless. No one ought to ever charge anything for it for freely we have been given and freely we give (Matthew 10:8).

Yes, people may bless you as they are led of the Holy Spirit, but never charge them. When you do so, Paul says it is an abuse of your power in the gospel.

When you abuse your power, you frustrate the functioning of the anointing in your life.

If you are a preacher, you will not demonstrate His power in its fullness like you ought to. Sometimes you have to ask yourself, is it worth struggling to have miracles happen, people transformed and salvation coming to the lost because you sold your power when you placed a charge on the gospel?

The Gospel is priceless. No one ought to ever charge anything for it, freely we have been given and freely we give.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for the gospel, freely have I been given and freely I give. I can never lay charge to any service in the gospel because I know how priceless it is. You are my true reward and not what men can give. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Abakorinto 9:18 nzagororerwa iki? Nuko rero iyo mvuga ubutumwa mbuvuga ku buntu, ntakurikije rwose ubutware bwanjye bw’umubwirizabutumwa.

Byabaye umuco mu nzu y’Imana ko abantu bamwe batabwiriza kugeza bahawe urungano rw’amafaranga runaka; ntibashobora kuramya cg gucuranga mu materaniro keretse babyishyuriwe.

Biba ni ahantu hamwe aho abantu bashukwa ngo bitange kandi ibi bimunze ibyiyumviro by’ababwiriza butumwa bwiza bamwe.

Ibi byose nibyo Intumwa Pawulo mu cyanditswe twifashishije yita “gushyira ikiguzi ku butumwa bwiza.”

Ubutumwa bwiza ntibugira ikiguzi. Ntawukwiriye kugira icyo aca abantu kuko twaherewe ubuntu bityo natwe tugomba gutangira ubundi (Matayo 10:8)

Yego, abantu baguhesha umugisha uko bayobowe n’umwuka wera, ariko ntuzigere ubaca ikiguzi. Iyo ubigenje utyo, Pawulo avuga ko ari ukwangiza imbaraga ziri mu butumwa bwiza.

Iyo ukoresheje imbaraga zawe nabi, unaniza gukora kw’amavuta ari mu buzima bwawe.

Niba uri umubwiriza butumwa, nago uzagaragaza imbaraga zayo nkuko ukwiriye kuzigaragaza. Ibihe bimwe ukwiye kwibaza, ese birakwiye ko mpangayika kugirango ibitangaza biboneke, ko abantu bahinduka n’agakiza kaboneka ku batarakizwa kuko wagurishije imbaraga zawe igihe washyize ikiguzi ku butumwa bwiza?

ICYO WAKURAMO: Ubutumwa bwiza ntibugira ikiguzi. Ntawukwiriye kugira icyo aca abantu kuko twaherewe ubuntu bityo natwe tugomba gutangira ubundi

ISENGESHO: Data, ngushimiye ubutumwa bwiza, naherewe ubuntu nanjye ndatangira ubundi. Sinazigera nshyira ikiguzi kubyo nkora byose mu gakiza kuko nzi uburyo nta kiguzi bugira. Ni wowe mugabane wanjye nyakuri kimwe abantu batatanga. Mu izina rya Yesu. Amen
